Braithwaite was established in 1913 as the Indian Subsidiary of Braithwaite & Co. Engineers Limited (U.K.), for undertaking fabrication of Structural Steel Works. The Clive works in Calcutta commenced manufacture of wagons for Indian Railways from 1934.

Major Achievements

  • Emerges as one of the major suppliers of Petrol Tank Wagons to oil sectors of India. The company supplied 800 nos. of such wagons to HPCL, BPCL, IOCL etc.
  • Manufactured BG Caustic Soda & BTAP - Alumina Tank Wagon for Aluminum Industry.
  • Manufactured BTPGLN Wagons for bulk transportation of LPG.
  • Dished End manufacturing started for Tank Wagons & Bullet products.
  • Integrated IT infrastructure established after implementing E-governance thru ERP project - first in Eastern region & in a wagon manufacturing unit.
  • Exported Railway Wagons to Zambia as a Gift from Govt. of India under AFRICA FUND.
  • First in India to install Container Handling Port Cranes at Haldia Port.
  • In collaboration with KRUPP of West Germany, the Company has installed using sophisticated technology a Quay Side Container Crane at Bombay Port and Rubber-Tyred Transfer Crane at Cochin Port.
  • Produces a wide range of Cranes viz. Tower Cranes, Hammerhead Cranes, Level Luffing Cranes, Barge Unloaders, Ladle Cranes, Diesel Electric Rail Cranes, etc. with capacities upto 320 Tonnes.
  • Associated with all major Steel Bridges in the country including India's first and Asia's largest Cable Stayed Bridge at Calcutta.
  • Commissioned prestigious Dredge and Wet Concentrator Unit for Indian Rare Earths Ltd. under Dept. of Atomic Energy.
  • Developed a special Jute Processing machine called "Hard Water Teaser Card".

  • Received Govt. of India Award for excellence in Exports and received Trophy and Certificates from Engineering Export & Promotion Council (EEPC) in recognition to Export Excellence.
  • Awarded Silver Medal by the Korean Rail Road Authorities for timely and successful completion of one of the major Wagon orders.
  • Awarded ISO9002 Certification for Wagons and ISO9001 for Cranes.
  • Award upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 certification for Wagons and Cranes.
  • Turn around CPSC award 2010
  • Certificate of Excellence from Institute of Economic Studies(India) at Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Malayasia.
